Check out and register for these free upcoming Pacer Center Workshops for students with disabilities and/or parents with a child who has a disability. All workshops are virtual.

1) Tech for Teens Club: Coding Websites
Date: Saturday, January 16, 2021
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

This workshop will introduce teens with disabilities to the basics of coding for the internet with HTML and CSS. Students will create their own unique website and publish it on the Internet using a free online tool at Glitch.com. Students will be able to experiment with code and see the results online in real-time.

2) Tech for Teens Club : Building Websites
Date: Saturday, January 23, 2021
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 PM

This workshop will introduce teens with disabilities to a method of designing websites using the free online tool at Weebly.com. Students will learn how to use template designs and insert small amounts of code to customize and publish their own websites online. This is an extension of the Coding Websites workshop but past attendance isn't required.

3) Ways to Help Your Teen Stay Organized
Date: Thursday, January 28, 2021
Time: 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

Do you know a teen who struggles with keeping track of their schoolwork, managing their time, and staying on-task? Learn about technologies that can help middle and secondary students (grades 7 – 12) develop these executive functioning skills. This virtual workshop is brought to you by MN Statewide Family Engagement Center and PACER's Simon Technology Center.

4) Tech for Teens Club: LEGO Stop-Motion Videos
Date: Saturday, February 6, 2021
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Using just a mobile phone and LEGO brand toys, we’ll be learning how to create stop-motion style videos that you can share with your family and friends. Learn the techniques to create smooth animation using the Stop Motion Studio app (iPhone & Android). Then create your own stories and bring your characters to life! Requirements: 1 mobile device with camera (iOS or Android), Stop Motion Studio app installed, your choice of movable figures or objects such as LEGO brand toys.

5) Educating your Child with Mental Health Needs: Special Education
Date: Tuesday, February 9, 2021
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

This workshop focuses on the challenges students with mental health needs may experience with distance learning, including hybrid models, and offers strategies for using the IEP to provide support and instruction.

6) How Parents Can Effectively Communicate with the IEP Team
Date: Thursday, February 11, 2021
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Are you effective when advocating for your child at IEP team meetings? Are you able to ask clarifying questions or speak up if you disagree with what the school is proposing? This interactive workshop will help parents build more effective communication skills with their child’s IEP team.
