No ID Needed to Eat Free

The US Department of Agriculture released new information this week to school districts that has made some changes in Finley. The USDA is extending waivers for schools through their Summer Food Service Program. The key difference that this extension brings for Finley families now is that all children ages 1-18 can receive free meals without presenting identification. Because Finley schools were already qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) status, all students enrolled in Finley School District have been able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day.

The USDA waiver changes two things in our district:

  1. Students do not have to present an enrollment card or any ID when picking up their meals now; and
  2. All children ages 1-18 can receive free meals at the Finley bus stop, even if they are not enrolled in Finley schools.

The USDA waivers will change the number of students we can serve, which means we are working with our food service personnel to make adjustments and accommodate larger numbers. We hope to be running more smoothly next week and thank everyone for your patience.

Finley Delivery Sites

During remote learning, Finley School District will continue to deliver free meals at the bus stops each morning. PLEASE NOTE: meal delivery times are different than “normal” bus stop times students used when school was happening in-person. While Finley schools are in remote learning status, please use THIS Bus Route Delivery Schedule. If you have any questions about food services for Finley kids, please contact our district office at 509-586-3217.

Please note that when the district transitions to a hybrid (in person & remote) learning model our meal service will change. We will communicate updates as they become available.
