2022 EP&O Levy

EP&O Levy Coming to Finley Voters
Posted on 01/07/2022
Voters in the Finley School District will see a replacement Educational Programs & Operations Levy on their special election ballots next month. Like numerous school districts across the state, Finley’s levy funds are used to maintain current school programs and staffing that are not fully funded by the state as part of “basic education.”

If approved by local voters, the 2022 EP&O Levy will replace the existing levy last approved in 2020. The proposed 2022 measure is a replacement levy and is not a new tax. In Finley schools, levy dollars help pay for smaller classroom staffing, STEM programs, athletics, extra-curricular activities, counselors, nurses, curriculum, family engagement activities, and much more. The proposed levy tax rate is estimated at $2.42 beginning in 2023, and $2.46 in 2024. These proposed rates are below the state levy cap of $2.50. (Rates are per $1,000 assessed value.) The total Levy collection amount is $1,485,000 in 2023 and $1,540,000 in 2024.

Ballots for the February 8, 2022 Special Election are scheduled to arrive in voters’ mailboxes by January 24th. All ballots must be returned or postmarked by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 8.
